Bilingual reading in French and English by Jean Arceneaux and Andre Muise.

 

18 October, 10-noon, Alumni Center

A morning of readings by the winners of the Acadiana Writing Project’s 2003 “Writes of Spring” contest for young writers.

 

6 November 2003, 7-10 pm The Blue Moon Cafe

An evening of collaborative performances between writers and musicians, and writers and artists.

 

14 November 2003, 7-9 pm Fletcher Hall Auditorium

Readings by contributors to Another South: Experimental Writing in the South, part of the Modern and Contemporary Poetics Series published by the University of Alabama. Readers will include Alex Rawls, Joel Dailey, and Bill Lavender, among others.

 

30 January 2004, 7-9 pm, Faculty Lounge in Griffin Hall

Reading by Subrata Dasgupta from his new novel, a coming of age tale set in Britain and India.

 

6 February 2004, 7-9 pm St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Common Room

Fiction writer Josh Russell from Tulane University and author of Yellow Jack, a Borders New Voices selection, a BookSense 76 Pick, and a finalist for the Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Award.

“Ethnopoetics At The Millennium”, a lecture by internationally renowned poet, translator, and anthologist Jerome Rothenberg.

 

19 February 7-9 pm, Alumni Center

Reading by Jerome Rothenberg, author of over sixty books of poetry including Poems for the Game of Silence, Poland/1931, A Seneca Journal, Vienna Blood, That Dada Strain, New Selected Poems 1970-1985, Khurbn, and most recently The Lorca Varations, Seedings, and A Paradise of Poets (all from New Directions).

 

9 April 2004, 7-10 pm

The “Poetry Crawl,” an evening of readings by local writers hosted at a series downtown Lafayette venues, the readings traveling from location to location as the evening progresses.

 

23 April 2003, 7-9 pm St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Common Room

Reading by innovative poet and translator Camille Martin of New Orleans. Her collections of poetry include sesame kiosk (Potes & Poets Press, 2002), rogue embryo (Lavender Ink, 1999), magnus loop (Chax Press, 1999), and Plastic Heaven (Fell Swoop, 1996). Martin founded and co-curates the Lit City Poetry Reading Series in New Orleans.
