The Best Freshman Essay Award

The Best Freshman Essay Award, established in 1984, honors the best paper of the year written in all freshman courses, English 90, 101, 102, and 115. The student's instructor nominates deserving papers, and a faculty committee judges the nominations.

In 2003 the committee selected Lanminh Ngoc Pham, who submitted “A Nation of Immigrants” for Donna Onebane’s English 101 class.
