Minor

        Bertrand Russell (1872-1970)*

The interdisciplinary minor in cognitive science requires a minimum of 18 hours of coursework, most of which should be at the 300 or 400 level. The minor is meant to introduce students to the interdisciplinary nature of cognitive science. There are regulations concerning which courses can count towards the minor for students in specific areas (see below). In general, however, the minor is aranged in three tiers. The first tier involves two courses which we regard as the foundational courses for this minor. All other courses may be selected from the second tier, or if so desired, from the third tier. At least three of the courses must come from the second tier, and these courses must include at least two disciplines.

Tier 1 (Required of everyone)
Tier 2 (Pick at least two, including at least 2 different disciplines) Tier 3 (May be used for additional selections, as appropriate) *Courses with an asterisk can count towards the minor if the topic is appropriate; check with a COGS advisor. Also, special courses not currently listed in the catalog or certain Honors courses may also count towards the minor if appropriate; again, check with a COGS advisor.
