POSITION: Mathematics faculty position at the rank of Instructor.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties will include a full teaching load of undergraduate courses, and departmental or university service.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have at least a Master's Degree in mathematics, statistics, or mathematics education, including a minimum of eighteen semester-hours of graduate credit in mathematics. A commitment to excellence in teaching is also required.

THE UNIVERSITY: The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has a Carnegie Foundation classification of Research University (High Research Activity). It is a public institution with an enrollment of approximately 16,500 students, a faculty of about 550, and an established Ph.D. program in mathematics. Located midway between New Orleans and Houston, Lafayette is the heart of Louisiana's Acadian-Creole region. The city of over 120,000 is one of Louisiana's fastest-growing and is the hub of numerous music and cultural festivals and celebrations. Lafayette serves as the base of Louisiana's off-shore oil industry, as well as the financial, retail, and medical center for South-Central Louisiana. THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Mathematics is one of the largest academic units on the campus. Course offerings range from developmental work in mathematics for freshmen to advanced graduate level courses for doctoral students. Current faculty research interests include algebra, applied mathematics, statistics, and topology.

TERMS: The appointment will commence August 20, 2008 or at the beginning of a subsequent term. Salary is negotiable, depending on qualifications.
