Exemplary Work
The UL Lafayette Foundation is recognizing four extraordinary faculty members this week. Dr. Suzanne Fredericq, professor of biology, and Brian Kelly, professor of printmaking, will receive the Distinguished Professor Award. Geoff Gjertson, associate professor of architecture, and Dr. Lisa Graley, a lecturer in the English Department, will receive the Dr. Ray P. Authement Excellence in Teaching Award.

Academic Signing at Northside High School

Area high school students are putting pens to UL Lafayette paper over the next several weeks. They are signing letters of intent – much like athletes do – to attend the university. UL Lafayette President Dr. Joseph Savoie and enrollment officials will visit nine high schools in Acadiana. They estimate that about 300 students will commit to enroll in UL Lafayette.

Louisiana BeauSoleil Solar Home
Accolades are still coming in for UL Lafayette's TEAM BeauSoleil. Six months ago, the team trucked the Louisiana BeauSoleil Solar Home from Lafayette to Washington, D.C. Last week, technology used in the home was listed among “Popular Mechanics” magazine’s “14 Best New Technologies for Greener Homes.” Specifically, “Popular Mechanics” cited the home's skylight. It shades the home's transitional porch while solar thermal collectors threaded through the metal provide hot water for home use.

Great Find
Aimee LaFleur is ready for prom. The Lafayette High School student found the perfect dress at the UL Lafayette's AmeriCorps Prom Dress Giveaway.

The service learning group collected more than 500 dresses and then opened up shop in the United Way warehouse in Lafayette to area high school students.

"I really decided to go to prom once I found the dress," LaFleur said.

Stop That Bus!
RCAF Bus Tour
There's still time to catch the excitement of the 2010 Ragin' Cajuns Athletic Foundation's bus tour.

Coaches and administrators are making their way through Louisiana and Texas promoting facility upgrades for athletics.

On April 22, the bus will stop at New Iberia's Sliman Theater at 5 p.m. and on April 24, it will be at Houston's Lucky Pub at 1 p.m.
