Distinguished Honors
The UL Lafayette Foundation honored four faculty members for exemplary work last week. Michael McClure, associate professor of architecture, and Dr. Hongyi Wu, associate professor in the Center for Advance Computer Studies, received the Distinguished Professor Award. Toni Cade, associate professor of health information management, and Allan Jones, professor of visual arts, received the Dr. Ray P. Authement Excellence in Teaching Award.

KRVS Q & A

Karl Fontenot, chief engineer at KRVS 88.7 FM, records sound in the station's studios in Burke-Hawthore Hall.
David Spizale, general manager of KRVS 88.7 FM on UL Lafayette's campus, recently sat down for a Q & A with reporter Sue Schleifer from The Independent. The station, which is a UL Lafayette department, is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission and broadcasts at 100,000 watts. Spizale said 90 percent of KRVS' programming is produced locally. He noted that the station is among a consortium of seven stations along the Gulf Coast that report on continuing stories dealing with the BP Oil Spill.

Adds Up
The Accounting Department in the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration earned accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business last week. John Fernandes, president and CEO of AACSB International, credited the college for maintaining excellence in accounting and its overall business program. Accreditation is earned by less than 5 percent of the world's business schools.

More than 5,000 fans cheered for Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns® football team during the team's first Spring Game with new head coach Mark Hudspeth on Saturday. Sports reporter Joshua Parrott with the Daily Advertiser got reactions from several players and coaches on the large turnout.
