Sales competitors

Marketing majors Kim Abrahams and Joseph Labauve proved they have what it takes to compete in the sales world. The UL Lafayette seniors competed in the National Collegiate Sales Competition last month in Georgia. Stellar performances from both students earned the team a 14th ranking out of the 61 participating universities. Competitors used their telephone skills to sell products to judges posing as business managers.

Making the Grade

The 2010 Spring Honors Convocation recognized more than 1,300 students for excellence in the classroom. The convocation, in its 55th year, honors undergraduates who earned a 3.2 GPA or better and graduate students who earned a 3.8 or better.

Secondary education major and 4.0 student Christina Angelle told the Lafayette Daily Advertiser she balances school work with a part-time job. “I have to study every moment I can get,” she said.

Humanities Greats
Two retired professors from UL Lafayette received accolades from the Louisiana Endowment of the Humanities. Dr. Gloria Fiero, professor emeritus in history and art, received the Lifetime Contributions to the Humanities Award.

Dr. Ann Dobie, professor emeritus of English, received the Individual Achievement in the Humanities Award. Both women were honored during the LEH's 2010 Humanities Award Ceremony.
