| End-of-Life Care |
Beth Harris, a nursing instructor at UL Lafayette, weighed in on the challenges of caring for dying prisoners in this month's ONS Connect, the official news magazine of the Oncology Nursing Society. She has taught a palliative care course in the College of Nursing and Allied Health Professions for the past five years. "I feel the moral responsibility to provide end-of-life care access to all patients, even those imprisoned," she said. Legacy Park has grown. Three more apartment-style buildings in the student-housing complex were recently constructed. That means an additional 162 students can live on campus there, across from Girard Park. Jerry Luke LeBlanc, vice president for Finance and Administration, told the Baton Rouge Advocate that the university is planning to provide more housing options by building new facilities and upgrading some older dormitories.

New Name
|
| UL Lafayette students don't have to look far if they ever need help. The Student Life and Conduct Department is just a visit (no appointment necessary) or a phone call away.
It was formerly known as Student Personnel. Dean Greg Zeringue said the department has an open-door policy, even after regular business hours."There's a dean on call 24 hours a day, every day of the year. We mean it when we say we will help students any time," he said. |

Good Time Giving
|
Tip of the hat to the members of the California Ragin' Cajun Club.
They know how to help students and have fun at the same time.
The UL Lafayette alumni recently created a $10,000 endowed scholarship and then held a shrimp and crab boil to celebrate. Congratulations! |
