Outstanding Work

 

The Fall 2011 Outstanding Graduates include an Academic All-American softball player, a budding actress, a registered nurse and an engineering major with a focus on robotics. They and four other exceptional students were chosen by deans of UL Lafayette's academic colleges. One of them will receive the Outstanding Graduate Award presented by the Alumni Association.

Bowl Fun

 

What do Ragin' Cajuns fans do when their team is heading to a bowl game? They host a parade, tailgating events and a battle of the university marching bands. Excitement about the 2011 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on Dec. 17 is building. Join the fun!

Open House

 

A "green" home designed by UL Lafayette architecture students to revitalize neglected neighborhoods in Lafayette can be yours. The Event House at 500 Madison St. is nearly ready for an owner. Check out the home, which is powered by solar energy, during an open house on Dec. 10.

Poetry is Tops


Time magazine asked author Luis Alberto Urrea to list five things he's "digging on right now." Darrell Bourque, professor emeritus at UL Lafayette, was No. 1. Urrea credits his top selection to his love for poetry. Bourque is also a former poet laureate of Louisiana.

Paint Your Car Red

 

Bowl bound or not, show your pride as you ride around town.  On Sunday, UL Lafayette softball players and artist Rob Harris will be at Cajun Field from noon to 4 p.m. with paint pens in hand. Get 'Geaux Cajuns' painted on your windows. It's how we roll.
