Construction has officially started on the Cecil J. Picard Center for Child Development and Lifelong Learning in University Research Park. The center was established at UL Lafayette more than five years ago. Administrators and staffers have been in temporary offices on campus since then. |

| A new CFO Roundtable series in the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration is helping Acadiana business leaders monitor the pulse of the local economy. Each quarter, chief financial officers from various businesses discuss current economic trends and get insight into these issues from the university's experts. "The goal of the CFO Roundtable is to get people together who are facing similar situations and to exchange their ideas on how they're dealing with various problems and issues," said Dr. Joby John, dean of the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration. |

Community Connections
|
Since its inception, the university has enjoyed a close relationship with the City of Lafayette and vice versa. City leaders helped create the university in 1898. Today, UL Lafayette is the third largest employer in the parish and injects $726 million into Acadiana's economy. "I think we've grown up together," said UL Lafayette President Dr. Joseph Savoie in Sunday's Daily Advertiser.

A Family Tradition
|
Brothers Marc and Alcide Judice knew the value of an education and passed this on to their families. All 13 children and 21 grandchildren (to date) of the Judice Inn owners attend or attended UL Lafayette. The Judice family and its restaurant forged a lasting tie to the university last week with the establishment of a $100,000 endowed professorship in business.
