Research for a Reason
UL Lafayette and Drexel University formed a National Science Foundation center this week that will help companies compete in the global marketplace. The Center for Visual & Decision Informatics will use supercomputing to interpret and analyze large data sets from businesses and government. It's the first of its kind in the nation and it's the first NSF center for a Louisiana university.

Life-Changing Moment
An instructor in the College of Nursing and Allied Health Professions saved a jogger's life last month in Girard Park. Gary Dodson was exercising on Jan. 9 when he collapsed. Nurse Deedra Harrington responded with CPR and saved his life.

Humanities Award
The Center for Louisiana Studies at UL Lafayette is the recipient of the 2012 Chair's Award for Institutional Support. Each year, the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities gives this award to individuals and organizations who've made contributions to the Louisiana's humanities.

Record Attendance
In addition to being a great team, Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun football has great fans. The NCAA announced this week that the team had the top attendance increase for the 2011 season. The Ragin' Cajuns beat Arizona State, Stanford, Iowa State, Temple, Florida State and Oklahoma State for the top honor.
