Haitian Relief Efforts

The ramifications of the recent earthquake and aftershocks in Haiti are being felt on campus. Fourteen UL Lafayette students call Haiti home and have been personally affected by the disaster. All of the 14 have heard from their families and all have chosen to remain on campus. But, they are in immediate financial need. "Most will struggle to pay their basic living expenses," wrote UL Lafayette President Joseph Savoie in his blog. Accounts have been established at the UL Lafayette Credit Union and the UL Lafayette Foundation to help these students. |

"I Know, But"

The newest exhibit at the Hilliard University Art Museum made its way into one of the most prestigious publications in higher education. "East/West: Visually Speaking" was featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education's What's Ahead section on page 3. The Chronicle writer notes one of the most striking pieces is the "I Know, But" fiberglass sculpture (above). |

Bump in the Night
|
Do you duck when thunder booms? Does your heart race when you see a bolt of lightning in the distance? David Paul, chief meteorologist with KLFY TV 10 and "self-professed weather nut" is ready to help. He's teaching a class – Confronting Your Fear of Weather – offered through UL Lafayette’s Potpourri program. He hopes to calm nervous students with education about weather patterns.
