Housing Plans
|
| |
| A $100 million construction project will increase student housing on campus from 1,800 beds to more than 3,000 beds. A new parking garage will also be constructed. Several campus buildings will be demolished to make room for new student residence halls and multi-use facilities. Three dormitories will be revamped. These improvements are intended to help more students earn academic degrees. The university will introduce living-learning communities, which are clustered residential groups, for instance. Research shows that living-learning communities improve student retention rates and academic achievement. |

Bancroft Hall |
| Construction crews are hard at work tearing down Bancroft and Denbo halls to make room for new student housing. The two halls were built in 1968. Bancroft was named after Anne Delie Bancroft. She was an assistant professor of English in 1920s and the first official dean of women at UL Lafayette.
Denbo was named in honor of Anna Margaret Denbo, an accomplished writer who organized support for the passage of a parish tax in the late 1890s for the first public school in Lafayette. |

Feeling achy and running a fever? There's a good chance you might have the flu.
You should see your doctor for treatment and to rule out something more serious such as meningitis.
Symptoms for both illnesses can be similar. If you have a stiff neck, severe headache or an aversion to light, you should seek immediate medical attention, according to Joey Pons, director of environmental health and safety at UL Lafayette.
