Low on Cost

UL Lafayette is among the most affordable schools in the nation, according to the U.S. Department of Education. Data released last week showed the net cost for attending UL Lafayette is $5,042. That cost is one of the lowest among public, four-year institutions. The national average in the same category is $10,747. Penn State University was the most expensive public college, with more than $14,000 in costs.

Feel the Beat

Eight of the world's top drum and bugle corps will perform at Cajun Field on Monday, July 25.

For the fifth year in a row, the Pride of Acadiana Marching Band will host Drums Across Cajun Field.

The Lafayette stop is part of the 2011 Drum Corps International Tour.

Corps that will perform including Phantom Regiment (shown), Carolina Crown, Boston Crusaders, Blue Knights, Colts, Troopers, Spirit of Atlanta and Pacific Crest. Tickets are on sale. The event starts at 6:30 p.m.

Not Just for Kicks
A former Ragin' Cajuns® soccer player has made it to the big leagues.

Heather Fuller, who suited up for UL Lafayette in 2007 and 2008, is a member of the Boston Aztecs Breakers Reserves of the Women's Premier Soccer League.

Head Coach Ebbie Kodiat describes Fuller as a "hard worker who understands what is being asked of her and gets it done."

Arts Appreciation
Students, faculty and staff at UL Lafayette with a current I.D. can visit the New Orleans Museum of Art free of charge. Other membership benefits include online teacher guides for special exhibitions, teacher workshops and a discount in the gift shop.The current display is Thalassa by renowned artist Swoon.
