Dressing to the Nines

UL Lafayette's AmeriCorps program wants to help alleviate some of the cost and anxiety associated with prom season. For one day – March 27 – it will open a one-stop shop for high school girls who can't afford a dress. In addition to free gowns, the shop will offers shoes, necklaces and earrings for the special night. “This is just one less stressful thing for students to worry about,” said organizer Kristen Vaughan, a junior education major at UL Lafayette. |

Home Builders

Lauren Crousillac, a junior at UL Lafayette, spent her weekend with other college students putting the final touches on three newly constructed homes in Lafayette.
The students were working with Habitat for Humanity to prepare homes for an upcoming dedication ceremony. Students from Bridgewater College in Virginia and Coe College in Iowa also pitched in. “I’ve enjoyed meeting others our age who care and want to give back to their community. They gave up their spring break to come down here,” said Crousillac. | | READ MORE > |
