GPA Perfection

Thirteen UL Lafayette students completed their undergraduate college careers with perfect 4.0 GPAs. Each was recognized during the Spring 2011 General Assembly Commencement ceremony Saturday. The university honors its top undergraduates each semester at graduation. Find out more these students.

Dream Big
Col. Eileen Collins, the first American woman to command a spacecraft, encouraged UL Lafayette Spring graduates to dream big. "You are leaders. Never forget that. You have the tools, do dream big," said Collins at the General Assembly Commencement ceremony at the Cajundome. She shared her experiences as a test pilot, astronaut and space flight commander.

Conference Crown
Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns® softball team is heading to NCAA Regionals for the 13th consecutive season. It will be the 21st Regional appearance in the softball program’s history. The team received an automatic bid to compete in the Austin Regional hosted by Texas, the No. 3 seed, after winning the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The Cajuns have been champions of the Sun Belt Conference 11 times in the last 12 years.

Great Work
Patrick Adams is the Spring 2011 Outstanding Graduate. The award is given by the UL Lafayette Alumni Association. The Lafayette native is a mechanical engineering major with a minor in mathematics. He finished his undergraduate degree with a 4.0 GPA and plans to apply to medical school next year.

• See the list of graduates for the 2011 Spring semester. More than 3,000 students were recognized on the Dean's List.

• UL Lafayette Business student Andrea Tuminelo didn’t make it to the final round of the game show “Wheel of Fortune” last week but she also didn’t walk away empty-handed. The junior won a trip to Hollywood and a stash of cash.

• Correction: Last week, Claire Beynon's name was inadvertently misspelled in information that accompanied a photo of the Academic Signing at Comeaux High.
