University Police and Lafayette City Police will team up to patrol areas off campus where many UL Lafayette students live and socialize. The City and University Safety Program was introduced last week by the Student Government Association. A police cruiser, purchased by SGA, was also unveiled. One officer from each of the law enforcement agencies will partner and use the vehicle for patrols. They are expected to hit the streets in mid-May.

Cannonball!


Ready. Set. Splash. Jebby Soignier, chair of the University Program Council's Traditions Committee, jumped feet first into Cypress Lake on Lagniappe Day last week. The jump was one of several activities held during the week before final exams.
Students also raced canoes in Cypress Lake and polished off a total of 10,000 pounds of crawfish.

In Remembrance
The UL Lafayette community held a candlelight ceremony for students, faculty and staff who died in the past year. The observance, held last week at the Alumni Center, included Scripture readings and prayers.

The Pride of Acadiana Marching Band will be in New York City for Thanksgiving in 2012. Officials with Macy's surprised band members during a concert Friday about being a part of the 2012 Thanksgiving Day Parade®. UL Lafayette was chosen from a pool of 150 schools that had applied. This will be the second time the band marches in the parade. It participated in 2005.
