It's Time to Celebrate

Team BeauSoleil Solar HomeYou can wish Team BeauSoleil bon voyage on Thursday, Sept. 17. As you know, UL Lafayette was one of only 20 universities from around the world chosen to compete in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon in Washington, D.C. in early October. Each university’s team has built a house powered solely by the sun. The buildings will form a “solar village” on the National Mall.

Team BeauSoleil will unveil its completed home on Sept. 17 and christen it for its journey to the nation’s capital. The free celebration will include Cajun music and jambalaya. It will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the BeauSoleil Warehouse at United Way, 215 Pinhook Road. The christening is set for 7 p.m.

Number Crunching

Dr. Linus Wilson, assistant professor of finance in the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration, crunched numbers recently at the request of the New York Times.

The newspaper tapped him to analyze data as big banks begin repaying their obligations to the government. Wilson, who came to UL Lafayette in 2008, caught the attention of national media after writing journal articles about TARP funds, toxic assets and bank bailouts.
