A Helping Hand
Erin Huval is a student helping students. She works as a tutor with the Learning Center in Lee Hall and is a volunteer with the university’s mentoring program. The mentoring program pairs freshmen, who could benefit from extra support, with faculty, staff and fellow students.

The Sound of Silence
Dr. Robert Willey, who teaches music theory and media, wants to protect his students’ hearing. In addition to telling them how to preserve their hearing, he will conduct hearing tests to establish a baseline for comparison with future exams and to collect valuable data for research. Willey is working with faculty and students in Communicative Disorders, along with physicians and music professionals in the community, to spread the word about music-induced hearing loss. “Music is one of Louisiana’s great natural resources, and we want to help people enjoy it as much and as long as possible,” he said. Read more about his project and a free workshop.
