AUDITIONS FOR CHILDREN’S CHORUS SET

Auditions for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Children’s Chorus will be Aug. 31 from 4:15 to 6 p.m. in the Angelle Hall Choir room.

Audition requirements are:

• Apprentice Chorus (ages 7-9): sing a children’s song such as “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,” or “Three Blind Mice.”

• Concert/Touring Chorus (ages 9-15): sing “America” or “America the Beautiful.”

Rehearsals begin Sept. 13 with the Concert Chorus practicing from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and the Apprentice Chorus from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. every Monday during the university’s scheduled semester.

Tuition for the Apprentice Chorus is $70 per semester and for the Concert Chorus it is $100 per semester. This year’s Concert/Touring Chorus will be traveling to New York City in June 2005 to sing a concert in Carnegie Hall along with Chorale Acadienne and the New England Chamber Orchestra.

Students are taught using the Kodaly methodology of music education.

The director for both is Norma Jean Luckey. For more information about either chorus or to be a corporate sponsor for the Concert/Touring Chorus trip in 2005, contact Luckey at 981-0337.
