| UL LAFAYETE’S 2010 WOMEN’S CONFERENCE TO FEATURE VICTORIA REGGIE KENNEDY |

| March is Women’s History Month and once again the University of Louisiana at Lafayette will be hosting its annual Women’s Conference set for March 31. The annual event celebrates women of all ages and will include a keynote address by Victoria Reggie Kennedy, wife of the late U.S. Senator Edward “Ted” Kennedy. Dr. Marcia Gaudet, UL Lafayette English professor, will present “Ernest J. Gaines: 'This Louisiana Thing' That Drives Him and the Strong Women Who Inspire Him” during lunch. This year’s theme is Writing Women Back Into History. “ We’re excited to host our third year of the conference. We’ve added special guest speakers this year and we’re looking forward to celebrating women and their accomplishments,” said Dr. Jennifer Jackson, assistant to the president for campus diversity. The event is open to the public and will be held at the Cajundome Convention Center. It will begin with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. with breakout sessions throughout the day on optimal health, financial security, corporate careers, business startups and community involvement among other topics. The conference will end following Kennedy’s presentation at 2:45 p.m. Conference registration is $40 before March 17. After this date, the cost will be $50. College students can register for $20 with current I.D. Registration includes continental breakfast, lunch, attendance to all sessions along with the luncheon and keynote addresses and a special gift. The conference is being sponsored by UL Lafayette, South Louisiana Community College, Cox Communications and Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
