Practicum/Internship Program

The Counseling & Testing Center offers advanced level graduate students the opportunity to gain practicum and internship experience within our setting each semester.  The program consists of aspects that assist in professional and personal growth.  Each participant is assigned a staff counselor for formal one-on-one supervision weekly.  Additionally, the collective staff meets once a week for group supervision.  This includes case conceptualization, procedural training such as documentation, treatment plans, assessment tools, and topics relevant to the counseling profession.  Participants are responsible for chairing a discussion on a research review topic of their choosing as well as submitting a videotaped session for review by the staff and fellow interns.  Participants in the program will meet for a weekly group session with each other to discuss professional development.  Everyone will be provided the opportunity to lead this group.  Participants will also be given the opportunity to run an ADHD group at varying times throughout the semester.

For consideration, please fill out the application form and return it to the Counseling & Testing Center by mail at PO Box 4400, Lafayette, LA  70504 or by fax at (337)482-1267.  Upon receipt of your application, you will be contacted to set up an interview. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us at (337)482-6480 or stop by Olivier Hall Room 212.
