Frequently Asked Insurance Questions

Why do we no longer offer refunds?

By purchasing insurance for the entire student body, UL Lafayette is able to purchase more coverage for a lower premium.

What if I already have insurance?

The student insurance will help to pay charges not covered until a deductible is met (the average private insurance deductible is $250 to $300). It will also help to cover the 20% you're usually responsible for, that percentage not covered by most private insurances.

What if I didn't want to purchase this insurance?

You are not purchasing it. The University had dedicated a small portion of your tuition fees to purchase this group policy as an additional benefit to assist students and their parents should they incur an accident or illness while attending the University. No individual could obtain insurance at the discounted rate.
