F.A.Q. Q:
Why join the Accounting Society?
A: Other than being a great addition to a young graduate's resumé, the 2010-2011 Accounting Society will be offering public speakers, socials (bowling, bon-fires, and a reserved tailgating spot for every home game), study groups, a grad-school workshop, a resumé writing class, and study guides (not to mention extra points in many 300 level Accounting courses)! Any one of these member perks is reason enough to join. It's never too early to start preparing for the future . . . let us help!! Q: Is there a sign-up fee? A: Yes, but it is only a one time fee of $35 for the Fall and Spring semesters. Q: How do I join? A: Easy! Just come see us in our office on the 3rd floor of F. G. Mouton (room 311A), or simply shoot us an e-mail at ecb4271@louisiana.edu. Q: Is there a deadline to join? A: Not at all*. If it's your first visit to an Accounting Society meeting, simply fill out your contact info, pay the $35 fee, and enjoy! *Note that "Active Member Status" has its own requirements. Q: What can I expect from a typical meeting? A: A typical Accounting Society meeting begins with a very casual social, starting usually one hour before the formal meeting. The formal meeting will normally begin with a speaker. Speakers usually have about a half-hour time block where they present valuable information from their field of expertise. Following the speaker, the meeting will transition into a casual discussion about upcoming events, and about where we stand as an organization (this is typically the part of the meeting where all member questions are addressed). With the exception of the first meeting of the semeseter, all attending members are expected to dress business casual. |
