Executive Council of Accounting Society

Fall 2008 Duties

ALL OFFICERS ARE REQUIRED TO ACHIEVE THE FOLLOWING:
  • 2 Office hours per week
  • Attend at least 50% of all events and functions
  • Be present at all meetings
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the President with consent of the faculty advisor!
  • PRESIDENT:
  • Preside at all Accounting Society meetings
  • Direct the activities of the organization in conjunction with the faculty advisor
  • Obtain facilities for business meetings and handle all necessary event forms
  • Sign all checks
  • Prepare agendas for each meeting

    EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT:
  • Preside at all functions in the absence of the President
  • Succeed to the office of President in the event of a resignation, termination of membership, or death of President
  • Sign checks in absence of the President
  • In charge of getting all food items for meetings and socials

    VICE PRESIDENT OF COMMUNICATIONS:
  • Coordinate speakers for Accounting Society meetings
  • Obtain reserved parking for guest speakers
  • Post signs around campus about meetings and functions

    CHAIR OF COMMUNICATIONS:
  • Support and coordinate with the Vice President of Communications
  • Answer all basic questions through the email account and send mass emails as needed.

    SECRETARY:
  • Maintain minutes of all Society and Executive Council meetings
  • Maintain membership applications and an up-to-date roll of members of the Society
  • Maintain merit point spreadsheet
  • Make all sign up and sign in/out sheets.

    TREASURER:
  • Keep accurate account of all receipts and disbursements
  • Safeguard checkbook and supporting documentation for receipts and disbursements
  • Prepare reconciliation of dues after membership drive
  • Prepare bank reconciliations
  • Prepare financials at the end of the semester to turn in to the University.

    HISTORIAN:
  • Support and coordinate with the Vice President of Communications
  • Take pictures at all Accounting Society meetings and events.
  • Responsible for tokens of appreciation for guest speakers

    WEBMASTER:
  • Support and coordinate with the Vice President of Communications
  • Maintain and update the Accounting Society website
  • Handle any technology problems

    Officers failing to fulfill the mentioned duties and responsibilities are subject to the following disciplinary actions:
  • Verbal warning by the President and the Faculty Advisor
  • Deduction of merit points, and
  • Removal from the position as an officer

       The society holds monthly meetings during the school year. These meetings are held in B.I. Moody III, room 103A, at 6PM. At these meetings, guest speakers address the society on various topics dealing with the accounting profession and topics of current interest.
