Introduction to CSSA

The ULL Chinese Students & Scholars Association (CSSA), comprised of all the current students, visiting scholars, and faculty who identify themselves as Chinese, is one of the largest international student organizations at University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The CSSA is a student organization dedicated to the goal of promoting social, intellectual and cultural activities for Chinese students and scholars at ULL as well as other interested members in the ULL community. It will also strive to provide opportunities and benefits for its members by facilitating the exchange of information between China and Chinese students studying abroad and by defending the rights of its members on campus as well as in the United States. CSSA's another mission is to serve as mentors to help newcomers adjust to American culture; to enrich Chinese students' US college experience; to introduce Chinese culture to the ULL community; and to promote cultural exchange, friendship, and understanding among people with diverse cultural backgrounds. CSSA encourages all (especially newcoming) Chinese students and scholars in ULL to get involved in organizing CSSA events and to join our organization!

The goal of this site is to provide a friendly communication platform for all current Chinese scholars and students and future newcomers. There are some useful information for current students coming up soon. For future newcomers, this site provide some important information such as housing, traveling, registration and so on. The " Message Board" is very useful if you want to communicate with other Chinese folks, you can post some messages about renting, housing, used furniture and cars. We strongly encourage everyone to visit the message board and register an account over there.

In addition, there is information tailored to suit different users needs.

• CSSA members may find "Useful info for Current Students", and "CSSA Events" helpful.

• Future ULL students and newcomers may get answers from the "Newcomer Guide" to such questions as how to get prepared, what to bring with them, and how to acculturate easily.

• For those who are interested in China, Chinese language, and Chinese culture, please visit "About China", which includes some subsections such as "Chinese History", "Chinese Culture", "Chinese Tradition" that provides different aspects of China.
