 休斯顿总领事馆总领事慰问我校同学
九月九日，中国驻休斯顿总领馆胡业顺总领事，教育参赞查卫平及吕培明领事莅临我校亲切看望并慰问从新奥尔良市被解救出来的若干留学人员及家属，给他们带去了饮用水、食品等生活必需品，并提供了慰问金，对路易斯安娜大学中国学生学者联谊会近一年的工作表示了高度赞扬和鼓励。对我学生会热情配合安置新奥尔良三位同胞表示欣慰。与会的同学代表对领事馆的关心和慰问表示感谢，称此必将有利于我们开展工作，学生会将努力凝聚人心人气，让大家在刻苦学习，努力工作之余，在学生会的活动中感受到家的温暖。会后总领事与部分学生合影留念。

Karaoke
Party
was held in the lobby
of OIA. More than thirty people joined together, having fun
in singing, dancing, playing billiards, and playing pingpong.
The best female vocal of CSSA in Spring 2005 went to
Liu Zhiting, the best male
vocal went to Prof. Guo,
while the female single champion of pingpong in Spring 2005
was awarded to
Yang Qingfeng, male single
champion to Wang Nan. Special
thanks to He Xiaoyang,
Wong Yanling for their
contribution. |

Visit Houston Consulate
Lu Fei and Chen Wen, two Committee members of CSSA@ULL, visited the Education Office of Chinese Consulate General at Houston on April 2nd. Consul Lu Peiming
introduced the people structure of their office and talked about his work regarding how to broadcast Chinese Cultures to the Americans in the Southern US. He
also hoped that we, Chinese students, can contribute some to this goal so that Americans can know China very well and positively.
The CSSA president Lu Fei reported to him about our activities already held such as International Week and the Gala
during Yuan Xiao Festival. Mr. Lu was happy to know our successful activities and expressed his strong intention to support our CSSA@ULL,. He also give many advices about our future activities and introduced some experiences of other CSSAs such as raising funding and
strengthen the relationship with other brother CSSAs.

“Made in World” is the theme of this year’s
International Week. This week provides the opportunity for everyone to learn about other cultures and to experience the pride we take in our own countries and
traditions. CSSA@ULL took part in some activities successfully, including parade, display, performance, and attire banquet. Seven
Chinese female members performed a traditional Chinese dance, which greatly impressed the audience. Let's all give thanks to the following ladies for their
passion and endeavors: Weng Yanlin, Lin Jiajing,
Teng Ling, Bian Lingjing, Li Dan, Luo Jun, and Hua Shaowen. |

18th |
Festival
of Lanterns(元宵晚会) was held successfully in the lobby
of OIA. There were approximately eighty people presented,
including some international students as guests. People
enjoyed watching the Spring Festival Gala, as well as
the food. Dragon & Pheonix Rice Balls(龙凤汤圆） were widely
accepted as the best among all the food. |

CSSA committee members
had a meeting at the conference room of mathematics department,
Wang Nan was elected as the Activities Chairman and Wang
Chong as the Webmaster. Welcome them join the CSSA committee! |

2005 CSSA
Meeting The CSSA meeting was
hold at Conference Center today, the topic for discussion
focus on the election of new CSSA committee members and
the coming new year events. Lu Fei was elected as the President
of Chinese Students & Scholars in UL. Congratulations
to all the new committee members! Thanks for Yu Jianqi's
contribution to the CSSA in the past years. |
