Membership Criteria
Delta Alpha Pi Honor Society is open to undergraduate and graduate students meeting the criteria listed below. All students who are being initiated into Delta Alpha Pi Honor Society have met the following criteria:
Undergraduate students must have:
- Present with a document disability and work with one of the advisors in the Office of Disability Services.
- Completed a minimum of 24 credits.
- Maintained an overall Quality Point Average of 3.10.
- Demonstrate an interest in disability issues.
Graduate students must have:
- Present with a document disability and work with one of the advisors in the Office of Disability Services.
- Completed a minimum of 18 credits
- Maintained an overall Quality Point Average of 3.30.
- Demonstrate an interest in disability issues.
All who meet the approved criteria are invited to become members of this Honor Society without regard to gender, race, color, ethnicity, religion, national origin, age, type of disability, or sexual orientation.
Additional Member Requirements
DAP will hold four (4) meetings per semester with a minimum mandatory attendance of two (1) meetings per semester.
DAP members are expected to "demonstrate an interest in disability issues" by participating in at least one (1) disability related activity per semester. Some past examples of acceptable activities include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Participation in Disability Awareness Week (Spring)
- Participation in Pre-Professional Society's Camp Cajun (Spring)
- Participation in Walk/Run for a particular disability (i.e. Autism, Relay for Life, Heart Walk, etc.)
- Participation in Special Olympics
- Volunteer work at one of the community disability affiliations (i.e. Affiliated Blind, ARC, Deaf Action Center, etc.)
Activities need to be documented and are subject to approval by the DAP Advisor. If the activity or amount of participation is questionable, the DAP members will vote on whether or not the activity is acceptable.
