The graduate student organization (GSO) is a political organization empowered by its constitution to assist the approximately 1600 graduate students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette achieve academic excellence. The GSO performs this mission in several ways:

Advocacy: Perhaps the most important thing the GSO does is represent the concerns of graduate students to the university administration. The GSO president sits on the university graduate council, as well as on the graduate appeals committee. GSO representatives meet regularly each semester to discuss issues that are important to graduate students.
Funding: The GSO provides funding to graduate students to help defray the cost of attending conferences and purchasing research equipment and supplies. The GSO also provides one time grants for purchasing thesis or dissertation supplies. For an overview of what the GSO funds, click here.
If there is an issue that you would like to see the GSO address, or if you are interested in helping out, please don't hesitate to contact us.
