Reminders:
Applications are considered in the order they are received. The earlier you submit your application (after the initial acceptance date), the better chance you have of receiving funding.
Your departmental representative can submit your application for you, or you can submit it directly to the GSO president, Kevin Moberly. He has a mailbox in the English Department office, Griffin Hall 221.

All graduate students are eligible to receive a total of $400 dollars in GSO funding each semester that they are enrolled at the university. The following restrictions apply to how these funds may be used:

° $400 (the maximum amount allocated) may be used to subsidize travel to a conference (or conferences) at which the applicant has been asked to present a paper or to perform another academic duty.
° $160 of the total amount allocated may be used to purchase research
supplies.
° Doctoral students may apply for a one time grant of $50 for dissertation
supplies.
° Masters students may apply for a one time grant of $25 for thesis supplies.
° $100 of the total amount allocated may be used to subsidize travel to a
conference without academic duties.

Applications for research and travel funds will be considered in the order they are received.

Applications for special funds, for dissertation / thesis supplies and for travel to conferences without academic duties will be considered during the last meeting of the semester, but only after all other applications for research and travel funds have been voted on. These applications will be considered in the order they are received, per the following funding hierarchy:

1. All special funds applications.
2. All dissertation / thesis supply applications.
3. All applications for funds to travel to a conference without
academic duties.

No application may be submitted earlier than the initial acceptance date established by the GSO council.

All GSO applications must be submitted 48 hours before the meeting at which they are to be considered. All applications must be complete when submitted. Your department representative can submit your application for you, or you can submit it directly to the GSO president, Kevin Moberly. He has a mailbox in the English Department office, Griffin Hall 221.

Applicants are required to attend the GSO meeting at which their applications for financial support will be considered.

If an applicant cannot attend the meeting at which his or her application is to be considered, the applicant must arrange for a proxy to attend in his or her absence. The applicant must send a letter (or e-mail) to the GSO president detailing the proxy arrangements he or she has made.

At least eight GSO representatives from different departments must be present during the fall or spring meetings for any GSO applications to be considered. Furthermore, no applications will be considered unless a GSO representative from the applicant's department is present.
