Reminders:
Your Request for Official Travel must be signed by the head of your department head, and if applicable, the dean of your college before you travel
If your travel destination is outside the state of Louisiana, you must have the dean of your college sign your request for official travel.
If your travel destination is outside the continental United States, you must write a letter to the president of the university, Dr. Ray Authement, requesting permission to travel. Include this letter with your travel application.
If you are planning on renting a car, you must write a letter to the university president, Dr. Ray Authement, requesting permission to do so. Include this letter with your travel application.
You do not have to book your plane tickets through the state travel agency if you are applying for GSO travel funds.

A completed GSO application for Financial Support with:
 
° Your signature.
° The signature of your department head or graduate coordinator.
A completed "Request for Official Travel" form. This form must be signed and dated by your department head, and if applicable, the dean of your college before you travel. These are available from your department secretary and must include:
 
° Your signature.
° The signature of your department head (before you travel).
°   Itemized travel expenses. Refer to the State Travel Guidelines available from your department's secretary.
°   The signature of the dean of your college (not the dean of the graduate school)
if your travel destination is outside the state of Louisiana (before you travel).
  Note: If you are applying for GSO travel funds, you do not have to book your plane tickets through the State Travel Agency.
   
A letter addressed to the GSO council stating why you are applying for GSO funds.
   
A letter of recommendation from your major advisor stating why the GSO should subsidize your travel. This letter should also be addressed to the GSO council.
   
A letter from the organizers of the conference confirming that you have been asked to present a paper or to perform other academic duties. E-mail or relevant copies of the conference program are acceptable.
   
That you attend the GSO meeting at which your travel application will be voted on, or arrange for a proxy to attend in your place.
   
     The following conditions may also apply to your application:
 
If your travel destination is outside of the continental United States, your travel application must include a letter addressed to the president of the university, Dr. Ray Authement, requesting permission to travel. Include this letter with your travel application.
   
You must take and pass the University Driver's Safety Course if you plan to seek reimbursement for expenses occurred in driving your own car, a university vehicle, or a rental car (see below). You must pass this course before you travel.
   
If you wish to rent a car, your travel application must include a letter addressed to the president of the university, Dr. Ray Authement, justifying the use of rental vehicle. Include this letter with your travel application.
