News:

April 7, 2011
The spring semester is coming to a very successful close! Here are a few updates on what we've done this semester
1. All-South went very well - our club won the award for best collegiate competitors, which is astounding because UL Lafayette Karate Club is the newest collegiate club in the organization.
2. The belt test is two weeks from now, Saturday, April 16. Please e-mail karate@louisiana.edu if you plan to test.
3. We performed for International Week and had a great time! The show was a little bit smaller, but our group kata was spot-on. It was a great time, and we hope to do it again next year.
This semester has been very successful - now we just need to finish strong!

January 25, 2011
The spring semester is here again, and training is in full swing. Here are some events going on:
1. All-South is the first Saturday in April at the UNO Health Center.
2. The belt test is at the end of the semester (TBA)
3. This year, we're going to try to perform for International Week again - expect to see us around April 2 doing an on-stage demonstration.
On a final note, lots of you have been finding this site (even without any search engine optimization on my part). So, we welcome all the new members and
all the returning members to a new, intense semester!

January 2, 2010
It's a new year, and a new decade! The next semester is coming fast, so here are a few updates.
1. Training will resums on the first week of class, so the first session will be January 12, 2010 at Bourgeoise from 5:30-6:30 in the racquetball courts.
2. The website is undergoing a few changes. Its infrastructure is a little, well, inefficient, so this may take some time. I'll do my best, though.

October 4, 2009
Hello once again. The year's been going great, and there are training is just as intense as ever. Here are a few announcements:
1. Nationals will be on November 7-8 at the University of New Orleans. Wish us luck!
2. If you haven't paid dues, turned in forms, or given your health insurance card, please get them in as soon as possible! We are up
for re-certification, and we need to know how many members we have.

September 2, 2009
Osu! Welcome to all the new and old members of the UL Karate Club. Get On Board Day was very good at getting
the word out about the club. Here's some news:
1. Nationals will be the first weekend in November. Holly, Gil, and I are trying to go.
2. Belt testing is (I think) the last weekend in November. If you would like to test, you need a gi. See Dr. Mueller
about that.
3. We have forms for new members, if you decide you want to be part of the club. We need: UL Liability Waiver, JKA Member
Sheet, $25 membership dues, and proof of health insurance from either a private source or the Student Health Services at the
university.

Looking forward to the semester, everyone.

August 3, 2009
OH MY GOSH IT'S BEEN SO LONG! Well, spring semester came and went, and we're a measly twenty (or so) days from fall. In June, Sensei Rose
went to the karate camp at Tulane. Several important changes to form and procedure were made, so we're in for
a refresher course when the semester starts.
More urgently, though:

GET-ON-BOARD DAY is on the 26th! We need to plan something and register our group! I will send out an e-mail.
Respond if you can make it. I will also look up information about registering.

And, hey, if you're thinking about joining, go ahead and stop by. We train in Racquetball Court 3 in the Bourgeoise
at 5:30 and in the Bastille Room in the Student Union at 11:00 every Tuesday and Thursday.
Here's to a great semester!

March 2, 2009
We are quite busy for the rest of the semester. Here is a list of events that the karate club has planned:

Wednesday, March 3: International Week Performance at 6:30 in the Student Union Ballroom.
Saturday, March 28: Belt Test in New Iberia (put on your awesome face).
Saturday, April 4: All-South Tournament in Metarie.

Don't forget these events. The UL Karate Club is a new organization and thus ought to make a good, strong showing! The more the merrier!

January 29, 2009
Don't forget, the picture is Tuesday! THE YEARBOOK PICTURE WILL BE TAKEN TUESDAY (one way or another).

December 31, 2008
Happy New Years everyone! Wishing you all a great 2009, and hoping to resume training soon. I'm updating the website, so expect to see a few changes. But don't expect miracles because my html is a little rusty, heh. Enjoy your breaks!
