The University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Center for Louisiana Studies is hosting Bayou State Book Talks, a series...
A concert and family fun day will be held Sept. 7 at Blackham Coliseum to raise money for private searches to find Danielle Wright, a University of Louisiana at Lafayette student who is missing at sea. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue into the evening.
Wright and six others have not been heard from since early June, when their yacht, the Nina, is believed to have encountered storms in the Tasman Sea between New Zealand and Australia.
The lineup includes Geno Delafose, Travis Matte, MacKenzie Bourg, Dustin Ray and Southern Groove, American Heart Band, Mike Dean, Shawn and Lance Band, Beau Young and Elvis Barker. At 6:30 p.m., Our Savior's Church will lead a time of praise and worship.
Games and activities will be available for children, and live and silent auctions will be held throughout the day. Auction items include vacation getaways, hunting trips, a 2013 Honda Rancher ATV and more.
Admission to the event costs $10 for those 21 and older, and $5 for those younger than 21.
