Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns alumni Jake Delhomme and Yvette Girouard will be inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.

Delhomme, a record-setting quarterback, and Girouard, who racked up nearly 800 wins as softball coach at UL Lafayette, will be two of the eight people inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame on June 27 in Natchitoches.

The 2015 class was selected by 35 members of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, who considered 115 nominees in 28 different sports categories.

Delhomme, who is from Breaux Bridge, La., threw for 9,216 yards and 64 touchdowns as a Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun from 1993-96. He spent 11 years in the NFL, with the New Orleans Saints, then the Carolina Panthers.

He led Carolina to the Super Bowl in his first of seven seasons there. By the time he retired in 2011, Delhomme had set Panthers records for passing yards (19,258), touchdown passes (120) and game-winning drives (23).

Girouard’s 1,285 collegiate wins are the fourth-highest total in the history of NCAA softball. She coached the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns from 1981, the softball program’s first year, until 2000.

Girouard, who is from Broussard, La., is also a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Over the course of her entire collegiate career, she led her teams to five Women’s College World Series and had 30 straight winning seasons.

Other members of the 2015 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame class are: Frank Brothers, a thoroughbred horse racing trainer; Pat Collins; a football coach at ULM; Kevin Faulk, an LSU and a New England Patriots running back; Avery Johnson, an NBA point guard and coach; Leonard Smith, a McNeese State and Buffalo Bills cornerback; and Otis Washington, a football coach at St. Augustine High School and Southern University.
