Live streams, tagboard on tap for Spring 2016 Commencement

As part of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Spring 2016 Commencement General Assembly, social media posts tagged with the #ragingrads hashtag will be displayed on screens throughout the Cajundome and Convention Center.

The General Assembly will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 13, at the Cajundome. Doctoral candidates will be hooded and will have their doctorates conferred at this session. Bachelor’s and master’s degrees will be conferred at ceremonies for each academic college.

The General Assembly and all ceremonies held in the Cajundome (Education, Business, and Liberal Arts) will be broadcast on the Internet via a live stream. A separate broadcast of all ceremonies taking place in the Cajundome Convention Center, Exhibit Hall B, will be broadcast at this link. They can be accessed for free via computer, smartphone or tablet. Users can create an account or log in with their Facebook account information.

Social media posts will begin at 7:45 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. Find the University’s page dedicated to the hashtag on the Commencement website.

Parking for Friday’s Commencement ceremonies at the Cajundome and Convention Center will be available in the Cajun Field lots, with motorists encouraged to enter through Gate 4 on W. Congress Street.

Security measures are in place to ensure the safety of students and visitors. University Police will examine the contents of purses, bags, and packages of people entering commencement venues. Anyone carrying large purses or bags won’t be allowed into Commencement ceremonies.

All graduates will be directed to specific entrances and only designated entrances will be open to the public.
