SMART Festival

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, in partnership with Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise (LITE) and the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum, is pleased to present the first-ever SMART Festival, which celebrates Science Meets Art! 

This family-fun event will focus on the interdependence of the arts and sciences in our lives. Event is free and open to the public.

10/25/13 @ 7 p.m.  at the LITE Center (537 Cajundome Blvd. across from the Hilton Garden Inn

  • Theremin music performed by Robert Skinner and Juliette Loup of the University of New Orleans. 
  • Keynote speaker Professor Lawrence Krauss will speak about, The Hidden Universe: The Mysterious Allure of Extra Dimensions.
  • Book signing will follow

10/26/13 @ 10 a.m.  at the Hilliard University Art Museum

  • A gallery tour of the exhibition Intimate Science and hear faculty discuss their projects with NASA’s Earth-as- art exhibition.
  • Or, sign-up for an all-day special workshop with Machine Project, a group of artists out of Los Angeles who will lead participants in learning to “read minds” and create primitive lie-detectors. Registration is required for this event.​

@ 12 p.m. head over to the LITE Center from noon to 4 p.m. to learn what happens behind the scenes in video game design, art and animation design, film effects and 3D conversions unveiled by LITE, Pixel Magic, and MoonBot Studios.
