All Artists Mentored By Elemore Morgan Asked To Submit Work For Memorial Exhibition

Published

Elemore Morgan, Jr. (1931 - 2008) was a renowned artist in Louisiana. Known primarily as a landscape painter, Morgan was also a beloved and influential teacher.

As a member of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (known then as the USL) Art Department for over 30 years, Morgan's influence as a mentor was profound.

The Hilliard University Art Museum would like to honor the artist and teacher with a memorial exhibition of works by artists who credit Morgan as their artistic mentor. All artists who studied with Morgan at UL Lafayette between 1965 and 1998 and wish to participate are encouraged to submit their works for this very special exhibition.

Artists are asked to submit works that tell the story of Morgan's role as a mentor.

All entries will be selected by UAM curator Dr. Lee Gray. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 3, 2011. The Exhibition will begin on Oct. 1, 2011 and continue until May 19, 2012.

For more information on the rules and requirements for submissions please visit the Hilliard University Art Museum website at http://museum.louisiana.edu/html/morgan.htm.
