Dupre Librarians Answering Questions On Skype, Im

Published

Reference librarians at UL Lafayette’s Dupre Library are ready to chat. Thanks to a STEP grant, staffers will be able help with research questions via real-time audio and video interviews.

UL Lafayette students can get help locating sources for a paper or finding their way around the library via Skype. Faculty and staff can also use the internet-based service to assist with library-related questions.

The library’s username is duprelibrary. Librarians will be available on Skype Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.

In addition, instant messaging is available via Meebo most hours that the library is open. To get started, go to http://library.louisiana.edu/Ref/askref.shtml and click on Ask Reference. Next step, type your question into the text box.

Add Dupre Library Reference to your other buddy lists as well. Usernames are as follows:

AOL: duprelibrary

MSN: duprelibrary@hotmail.com

Yahoo: duprelibrary

GoogleTalk: duprelibrary@gmail.com

With these real-time reference services, Dupre Library users on and off campus can interact directly with librarians. For more information, contact the Reference Desk at 482-6030 or email reference@louisiana.edu.
