KRVS General Manager Elected To National Board

The University Station Alliance (USA) announced today that David Spizale, general manager of KRVS has been elected to their national board.

Craig Beeby, Executive Director of the USA stated that he was “thrilled to have Spizale on the Board of Directors as a highly regarded figure in the public radio system”. The national board consists of nine managers from diverse locations and stations throughout the country.

The University Station Alliance serves over 214 Public Radio Stations licensed to Universities. The organization focuses on the commonalities of purpose between stations and universities and seeks to integrate the missions and strategic plans to build capacity and enrich public service.

Spizale has overseen the expansion of KRVS since his return in 1984. He graduated from USL in 1974 and received a MS in telecommunications from Miami University, Oxford Ohio.

He directed public television programs at WMUB, the PBS station serving Dayton and Cincinnati Ohio. Subsequently, Spizale managed the cable TV facility at Bethany College in West Virginia while serving as an Assistant Professor in the Communications Department.

Prior to returning to Louisiana, Spizale was the General Manager of KEMC-FM, the NPR member station at Montana State University in Billings, Montana.

Most recently, he served as the Co-Chair of EASTERN REGION PUBLIC MEDIA, a consortium of 70+ public stations located from Texas to Vermont.
