Nominations Being Accepted for Ragin' Cajun Spirit Award

Nominations for the Ragin’ Cajun Spirit Award are being accepted now.

This award was created and funded by the late Mr. Sid Ory, a former UL Lafayette Alumni Association president and the man credited with coining the term “Ragin’ Cajuns.”

It recognizes a university employee who exemplifies the enthusiasm and spirit of Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns. Nominations are accepted from any university employee.

The Ragin’ Cajun Spirit Award includes a $500 stipend for the recipient and a commemorative plaque. The award will be announced at the Employees Christmas Luncheon.

Maggie Vincent - Student Union

The selection committee is seeking someone who:
• participates in spirit activities,
• is visible in their support of the University,
• is proud of their University and shares that pride,
• consistently goes above and beyond and,
• maintains and shares a positive attitude.

You can also send your nomination in 100 words or less to the Ragin’ Cajun Spirit Award Selection Committee in care of Dan Hare at the Alumni Center on or before Dec. 3, 2010.

In order for the traditional presentation of a stipend to continue on an annual basis, donations to enhance the Ragin' Cajun Spirit Award Fund are welcome and encouarged from members of the university community. Donations by check can be made payable to the UL Lafayette Foundation, referencing the Ragin' Cajun Spirit Award Fund (#18048) or by visiting www.ULLafayetteFoundation.org and donating online.
